-450 Richard M Manderscheid <rick@u...> 1970‑01‑01 Introduction
Hello all-
As the listserv says, It is time for me to introduce myself. I
would rather quietly lurk.

My name is Rick Manderscheid. Like my counterpart, I also can be
trusted because of my thinning hair. However, I am a twenty year old
college student at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am majoring in
physics, with a slight lean toward Business. Okay, so I don't have any
clue what I want to be when I grow up ... oh well. I do enjoy wood
working and have built a few pieces for others.

I began building my own furniture seriously as a junior in high
school. My only fault in this was the very Norm attitude I had in these
projects. But, I am coming around to the light of old tools. This is
partially due to the fact that my woodworking is now constricted to an
apartment. :( Fortunately, all of my current furniture in my small room
was made by me. BTW, thanks to Ms. Patrick Leach, among others, as many
posts and stories served to inspire me to turn to the oldtools listserv.

Most of my friends from high school really got a kick out of how I
was enamored with woodworking. (not your typical teenage hobby) As the
last coupla years have passed, they are beginnig to really respect me for
it. cool.

I seek this forum because my school has no true shop to speak
of, and any source of information has a big impact on how much ww info i
soak up. No shop in high school, I was cramming in all of the extra
math and science classes I could fit in. I am currently subscribing to
rec.ww and fighting over the few remainig back issues of FWW out there.

Thank you in advance to all who will most likely end up
enlightening me on all of the finer points of woodworking. I do hope to
contribute the few precious pieces of knowledge I have. For the most
part, I will be lurking.
