210353 "Dennis Heyza" <michigaloot@c...> 2010‑12‑03 bio update
As a Galootaclaus participant, it seems a good time to join the bio
update parade...

My name may not be familiar to those who jumped on the Porch after the
millennium change but I've been hanging around here since near the
beginning (mid-1996). I was quite active in those days and responsible
for the galoot bumper stickers and shirts.

Since 2000 job demands have minimized my shop time, with this year
being the worst of the bunch. I am the lead on a huge project that has
kept me in the San Antonio area for most every week this year. The few
exceptions have been filled with work or trying to do the bare
minimums of house maintenance. To give an idea, I've logged 2900 hours
year to date.

This means I tend to start each year with a list of projects and end
it with little to show. I've managed to do some things along the way
(Windsor chair class, lots of Shaker boxes for charity auctions, a
handful of small objects for home) but you can consider me a mostly
frustrated woodworker. I recently turned the big six-oh and am coming
to grasp with the idea I could run out of "next years" so there are
great visions for 2011 (we'll see how that works out).

I started off acquiring many more tools than necessary and have
tapered back to a fairly basic assortment (think 18th Century tool
kit). I've transitioned almost completely to woodies and have no
tailed apprentices other than a 40s era Delta-Rockwell lathe (a
treadle version is on my wish list).

Not much more to say. Married to the LOML for 30+ years; kids grown.
Just need shop time.

Dennis Heyza
