Thanks for the thoughtful replies so far. I’m still a pretty novice tool
sharpener and I have to admit that I feel like my tools could be sharper. I’d
also say that while I do not mind the sharpening process, I don’t want to spend
more time then necessary sharpening. I like to keep things simple and spend my
time cutting, planing, and chopping rather than sharpening.

I don’t necessarily *want* to buy more stones, but if it will make the
sharpening process easier and better, I will.

It seems like the jump from 1000 to 8000 is pretty large, so I’m thinking a
stone somewhere in the middle would be beneficial. I’m just not sure if which
(3000 or 6000) would be better.
