No doubt folks have mentioned things like this before, but.

 .one frankensaw-ish item that followed me home from an auction
 a while back started life as the main body of a #55 and then, after losing many
 pieces/parts/screw-sockets/etc, had a strip of sawblade inserted into its
"mouth"
 to end up as a stair-saw-like critter, with its sides functioning, basically,
as depth-stops.
