Lower left in this image is a brace square tang to 3 jaw converter. Not
sure if someone makes a new one or not.
Some of the newer braces had jaws that would allow them to grip a round
shank with two jaws. Forget which one now (Stanley 923 & 2101?), but it
was a patented feature. Choking up on the bit May allow you to avoid the 3
flats, or the right jaws may ignore it.
The other pricey option might be here.
