working ona set of shelves, and I need to make the shelves... They'll be
about a foot deep, and I was wondering what folks use as a guideline for
how wide the individual edge jointed pieces should be.

While I's love to use a single wide board, the shelves will be floating, so
cupping would be a big issue. By building them up and alternating the ring
direction, I figure I can minimize warpage.....
