Friends,

To clarify the subject line, it is the plane which seems odd to me 
rather than the question.  The images are on the website of an Aus 
set-price dealer so the asking price is what it is.

Can anyone recognise this device, identify it and tell me how it is 
meant to be used?  I have been puzzling for a couple of days now, and am 
beginning to wonder if all the parts (the blade for instance) are 
present or it has been wrongly assembled.  I understand the uses for a 
3/8" groove but it seems there are easier ways to do the job. It has me 
bluffed!
