I agree with Kevin. LN tool prices have shown no signs of waning on flea bay,
even those that are currently back in stock. I have a lot of LN tools and the
only one I overpaid for is an LN-9, which was discontinued in 2015. I have a
dedicated shooting plane so don’t use it for its originally intended purpose,
yet it’s become one of my favorite planes, literally a block plane on steroids.
I’m a user not a collector, so if I want a tool I’m willing to wait for it at a
fair price. Someone once surmised that the reason LN tool prices are inflated on
eBay is because of international buyers. I never put much credence in that; LN
has many international distributors.

With the exception of very rare collectible items, I do think prices on Stanley,
Sargent, et al, are beginning to show signs of coming down, in some cases
significantly. I just sold a Stanley No. 55 spokeshave in excellent condition
for exactly what I paid for it 3 years ago. Stanley #5 planes are going for
$50-$60, a few months ago they were usually over $100. I suspect a lot of people
who got caught up in the Covid tool buying mania had no intention other than
flipping them and making a quick buck. Well mama, turn out the lights, that
party’s over.
