278625 Tony Seo 2024‑07‑08 FS: The Toolz Of 2024 List 7-1
Howdy.   Well summer has sure landed with a vengeance.  Hot and humid
from sunrise to well past sunset (and yes I know that there are a lot of
places hotter than here, but...)  The fleas have been sporadic, but
I've managed to land some really nice collectible and some solid user
tools as well.  Lots of fresh goodies on here since the previous list.

PayPal is preferred (if you use it) on all items. It's easier for me to

ship items off of a paid PayPal invoice, especially First Class ones.
Checks and money orders are still welcome.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Prices do not include shipping.  All items are shipped with Delivery
Confirmation. Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item
is optional. Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via
First Class mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping
cover the cost of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Columbian Hardware Co 4 Inch Blacksmith Leg Vise.  Measuring about 40"
high, the jaws are about 4 3/8" wide, and this weighs about a whole
bunch of lbs unboxed.  This is in decent condition and was not cleaned.
Been a while since I last did one of these "on the back of the truck
photo sessions..)  Lots of grime and patina going on this guy.  The jaws
are fairly good and close up tight and flush on the tops, but not quite
flush on the sides.  The screw is missing a section from the end, but
the jaws open to 3" with no problem.  The nut is good (that is a sprue
line showing in the last picture and not a crack.)  The bench mount is
solid and the spring is good. This ain't perfect, but seeing as what
they are selling for on other places, for the money this will get the
job done.  PICKUP ONLY at my shop here in NE PA.  This guy is too heavy
and well gnarly for me to ship.  $150.00

Vintage Hammacher Schlemmer & Co Bow Drill.  Measuring 10 1/4" long, the
chuck is 3/8" in diameter, and this weighs 1 lb 10 1/2 oz unboxed. Bacck
in the 19th and early part of the 20th Century, Hammacher Schlemmer & Co
were major resellers of woodworking and other tools.  This is in good
condition and was cleaned.  There ain't nothing much overall patina wise
to fuss about.  The chuck is good.  This would have used bits that were
mounted into metal pads that would have been secured with a metal pin.
I did NOT get any bits with this guy.  The brass center section is good
and the handle ferrule is also good other than a scratch marked user
name.  The side screw works and the head section spins freely.  I did
put a little oil down in there.  I can't say what kind of wood the
handle is, but it does not look to be rosewood.  That is good and has
almost all of the original finish, plus a coat of wax.  This is one of
those tools that is few and very far between. $135.00

J S Cantelo 1883 Patent 8 Inch Folding Handle Draw Knife Or Drawknife.
Measuring 16" overall, the blade is 8 1/16" long, 1 3/16" wide across
the edge, and this weighs 1 lb 12 oz unboxed. John Solomon Cantelo of
Taunton, MA was granted Pat. No. 286,385 on Oct. 9, 1883 for the design
of this tool, which was the first of five patents that he was issued for
draw knives.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
There is some staining and some spots of frosting on the back, but
nothing too bad.  The edge is fairly good and the top was never struck.
The front has more of the same light patina as the back.  The handles
are good and have almost all of the original finish, plus a coat of
wax.  The handle hardware has some frosting and there is a user mark
stamped on both sides.  Both handles move freely, but they wiggle around
a little when they are in the working position.  This ain't pristine,
but seeing as how it's at least 120 years old, it sure ain't bad. $60.00

TWO Mahogany Wood Scraper Planes.  The one on the left has a flat sole
and is 8 9/16" long, the blade is 2 13/16" wide, the one on the right
has a convex sole and is 7 1/4" long, the blade is 2 1/2" wide, and they
weigh 1 lb 2 oz unboxed.  There is a user mark on the left one, but
these were made by the same hand.  These are in good condition and were
cleaned.  Overall the bodies are good as are the soles.  All the screws
work and hold.  The left blade isn't sighed, the right one is a
Disston.  The left one has some light patina on the top on both sides,
but the face is clean, and the right one is good overall.  Both have
hooks turned on the edge.  I gotta say, that this is a good looking pair
of tools that will get the job done.  $55.00

ELEVEN Vintage Silversmith Pattern Stamps.  They range in length from 1
3/4" to 3 1/8" and they weigh 11 oz unboxed.  Two are marked R Hoe New
York, one is a P S Stubs Cast Steel, and the rest aren't signed.  There
are an assortment of faces, the two rectangular ones are a wee bit
different in size.  These are in decent condition and were cleaned.  The
faces are good for the most part save for a little wear and some light
patina.  All of the striking ends did have some mushrooming removed,
some was light, and some was pretty nasty.  That ain't a super pretty
job, but they are better and safer than they were.  I gotta say that
these guys are sure getting few and very far between any more.  $135.00

P S & W 18 Inch Blacksmith Signed Wing Divider.  Measuring 18 1/2" long
(from the tips to the top of the joint) and this weighs 1 lb 14 oz
unboxed.  I did a search, but nothing shows up for Mr. Graver.  This is
in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall light
patina, including frosting and some spots of light pitting.  The joint
and tips are good.  The locking screw is original, and that and the fine
adjustment nut both work and were oiled.  This ain't pristine, but these
big ones are sure getting few and far between, especially blacksmith
marked.  Just saying.  $85.00

high, the blade is 1 3/16" long, 1/2" wide. and this weighs 1 3/4 oz
unboxed.  This is in good condition and was cleaned.  The face of the
blade is clean and there is lots to work with, but the edges will need
some work.  The adjuster notch is also good.  These guys are sure
getting few and far between any more.  $32.00

Keuffel & Esser K & E Mercury Drafting Tool Set & Case. This all weighs
15 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in very good condition and was not cleaned.
I doubt that it was used very much if at all. The tools are all pristine
and everything is present.  There is a little wear to the edges of the
case, but it's solid.  This is about as close to minty as these guys
come.  $27.00

Stanley No 70 Slitting Gage Or Gauge.  This weighs 4 3/4 oz unboxed.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The beam has some
staining, dings, scuffs, and a little wear at the working end. All the
rulings are readable and the beam is straight.  The point screw works
and the tip is fairly good.  There is a fair amount left and it will
need a touch up.  The head also has some stains, dings, and a little
wear.  The locking screw has some dings, but it works and holds.  This
ain't perfect, but these guys are sure few and very far between of
late.  $30.00

in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall light
patina.  The face and peen have some dings and a bit of mushrooming on
both.  There also is some mushrooming on the top of the head.  The claws
are good.  This ain't pretty or perfect, but considering the kinda life
it's lead, well it sure ain't bad. $18.00

Dixie Beer Co Advertising Carpenters Hatchet Bottle Opener. Measuring 4
1/4" long and this weighs 2 oz unboxed.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned.  Whatever finish was on this originally had gotten a bit
funky.  The opener end is good.  This ain't perfect, but if you ever had
to pry a bottle top off with a pair of pliers, well this guy will get
the job done.  $14.00

some frosting, but nothing too bad patina wise. The jaws have a few
light dings on the tops, but close down tight. There is a little bit of
the cross-hatching on the faces.  The spring is on the light side, but
works.  The joint does have some play.  The nut and screw are good.

clean save for a little light patina down by the ferrule.  The tip is

being used.  This ain't minty, but it will get the job done.  $14.00

19th Century.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is
some overall light pitting and patina.  The faces also have some light
pitting, but close down tight.  The "through the center" joint is good.
The loop handles have some pitting, and would have originally been
wrapped with cord, but that rarely survives the journey.  This ain't
pristine, but these guys are sure not very common either.  $30.00

overall.  The tips are good.  The joint is good with just a wee bit of
wiggle.  I ain't sure what this is used for, but somebody, someplace,

the head is 6 1/8" long, the edge is 1 5/16" high, and this weighs 2 lbs
12 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  There ain't much in the way of patina on the
head, save for some user initials chisel marked on both sides.  The edge
isn't bad, but could stand a touch up. There is a little mushrooming on
the striking end and I did drag a file over some sharp spots.  The
square punched eye looks to be good.  The handle has some roughness
under the eye, some dings, stains, and some mushrooming at the end, but
will get the job done, until it don't.  This is a good looking old tool
to say the least. $22.00

7/8" wide, and this weighs 10 1/2 oz total unboxed.  Not signed as to

scuffs on the head left over from when this was forged and some light
dings and patina.  THe face has some tiny dings.  The peen has some wear
to the one side and is setting at a little bit of an angle.  The handle
has some chipping under the eye, some dings and stains, and some
chipping at the end.  But it feels solid enough and the head is on tight
thanks to a big old wood screw in from the top.  This ain't minty, but
it is an older tool that will get the job done.  $20.00

overall, the head is 4 11/16" long, the face is 2 1/16" wide, 2" high,
and this here pup weighs 5 lbs 2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  Uh huh. There is
lots of patina going on the head, including some light pitting, punch
marks, dings, chisel marks, etc.  The face has some cut marks or
scratches along with some dings and wear.  I did run a file over that to
tone things down a little, but it's gonna take something with a bit more
horsepower to make it right.  The striking end had some mushrooming
dressed and hammered down at some point and that is good to go.  The
handle could be black walnut.  That has some nice decorative work to it,
along with some dings, and some chipping at the end, but it's solid.

R Timmins & Sons No 00 Cobbler Lasting Pliers.  Measuring 6 3/4" long,

Timmins & Sons were 19th Century Birmingham England tool makers who were
in business until the 1870's when they merged with the Wynn company.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  There is a little
frosting and patina overall.  The jaws to have some wear to the teeth,
but they close down tight.  The "through the center" joint does have a
little play.  The hammer poll has some dings, and some chipping and a
little mushrooming down at the bottom.  There is a little roughness at
the ends of both handles.  There is no tack claw, but this size tool
rarely had them.  This ain't minty, but these smaller ones sure ain't
getting any easier to find and seeing as how this guy is at least 150
years old and probably older, well it sure ain't bad.  $27.00

spots of light patina including some dings.  The steel bit is about 7/8"
deep and is good save for some pin-point pitting. The edge will need a
quick touch up.  The poll has some dings.  The eye looks to be good with
no cracks that I can see.  The oval shaped handle is original and good.
There is a small strap hole at the end and somebody put a small piece of
metal at the back of the eye. There also are some spots of blue paint at
the end and around the eye that refused to come off.  This ain't
pristine, but it sure ain't bad for being 125 or so years old, and it

Lufkin Rule No 513 Micrometer Depth Gage With Orig Box.  This all weighs
1 lb unboxed.  John A. Schleicher of Saginaw, MI was granted Pat. No.
1,424,383 on Aug. 1, 1922 and Pat. No. 1,568,295 on Jan. 5, 1926 for the
design of this tool.  This is in good condition and was not cleaned.
The head is clean save for some very light scratches on the face and
some light scuffs on the back.  The micrometer turns smoothly and the
cap nut for the rods works.  This has 3 rods total (one in the tool and
2 in the box).  They have a little wear on the sides, but nothing too
bad.  This also has the wrench.  The oak box has some dings and light
stains, but it's solid, and the late works.  This ain't pristine, but it
will get the job done.  $45.00
