Lloyd Conley, Altus, Oklahoma. Flight Simulation engineering manager, single p
arent, former Normite, former military, former buckskinner, amateur student of h
istory, mid forties.

Now for the good stuff: About a month ago I liberated an old tool chest from a
 local pawn shop/antique store for a paltry $75. It was a pine box 34 x 13 x 8 1
/2 with handles on the ends, wooden-wheeled casters and was divided into several
compartments, and with the owner's name (Walter R. Akers or Ayers) stamped on t
he lid. Inside were the following: two block planes, two smoothers ( #4 & #5
) two crosscut saws, two keyhole saws, three stones, sliding bevel, marking gaug
e, steel square, dividers, brace and set of bits, #44 Yankee drill, hatchet, fil
es, cold chisels, two adjustable wrenches, four folding rules, folding draw knif
e, wooden- handled screwdrivers, and a #313 level. Two items which I haven't i
dentified are iron clamps (?) that look like they were used with cord or wire as
 draw-tights.

Patent dates on all the above tools are between 1860 and turn of the century.
Needless to say, I'm having tons of fun cleaning and putting them back into use.

Just finished a Shaker step stool, several leather-covered strop blocks, and som
e mallets for friends. Appreciate the knowledge base represented in this maili
ng list ... hope to be able to contribute.
