174446 "Brian Hathaway" <didemnid@g...> 2007‑11‑19 Obligatory Biography
So, since I abruptly emerged from lurker-hood via the web archive, I
guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm 30, and married to a SWMBO
who is not only tolerant but encouraging of this...habit. I'm a
graduate student right now, investigating how marine microorganisms
make molecules that could be drugs. I'm also at the very bottom end of
the Galoot learning curve. Every purchase involves hours of research,
and a little bit of wondering whether I actually made a reasonable
buy. But it's too much fun to put down, so I think I'll stick with it.

Being a grad student, money is somewhat scarce. Woodworking is a
family thing, and this seems the best way to me to connect to
tradition. It also seems that I've found the perfect community in
which to explore it. I look forward to getting to know you all in my
new, de-lurked status.

Welcome to the porch Brian. If there is anything the SGFH can do
to help you down the slope, just let us know...there's a bucket of
grease around here somewhere.

Welcome, Brian.

Wish I had started that soon. The folks here are great. Good luck on
finishing grad work and on using those tools. Have fun.

Welcome aboard Brian!

Not sure where you live, but check around, because there are some
local Galoot groups. I know S.E. Michigan has a group which meets
occasionally. In fact, the December 6th meeting we are going to make
stair saws.
