226735 <brentpmed@c...> 2012‑02‑09 Brent Kinsey Profile Introduction
GG,
My name is Brent Kinsey. I have been lurking for quite a while and
decided it was time to introduce myself.
I am a Paramedic and soon to be RN in Oklahoma City who finds himself
sliding down a low friction inclined plane towards hand tool nirvana, or madness

I am a bit of a novice as a woodworker, but am trying to absorb everything I can
regarding tools and techniques. I have gained much from the collective wisdom
on your porch, and for that I am very grateful!.

I have a small, but functional (and growing) set of hand tools which I have fett
led into
working shape and find I learn a great deal getting them ready to use. I am fort
unate
that I have a delightful SWMBO who encourages my descent down the slope. I have
a starter
set of jointer, jack, smoother and block planes, mostly old Stanley, the Blue Ch
ip chisels I
started with and am beginning to replace with older chisels, a couple of hand an
d back saws,
router plane and a couple of spoke shaves.

Recent projects were a low saw-bench, a couple of small plant stands for my wife
, a shaker bench
a new shooting board (Thanks Derek for the instructional info). I am contemplati
ng building
a walking arm spring-pole lathe. That's it for now...

So, a big Okie "hey y'all" to those on the porch, Mind if I visit a spell?

Warm regards,
Brent

Welcome, Brent;

Visit a spell? The Porch is kind of a black hole; once you park your
carcass here, you can't hardly get it off. Except maybe Ralph
Brendler. :(

Welcome Brent,

Sounds like you are making good progress and at least you had the good
sense to make yourself a proper shoot board early on instead of taking a
decade to get around to it like I did. And you continue to add in
gumption column by making a low saw bench. That=92s been sitting on my
back burner for years as well. I=92d be interested in seeing pictures of
your Shaker workbench.
